It has been a crazy, fun, and exciting week to be a technology enthusiast. I don’t know about you, but I have been hard pressed to keep atop all the goings-on. Here are some articles I read that I think you may enjoy.

The Apple event was fun! Did you watch the live steaming video? Well, OWC had a GREAT community blog post on the event, and it is well worth reading! (OWC Blog)

Touch Arcade has a review of the iPhone game Mirrors Edge. When this game was first announced, a year ago, it was big news. But it took so long to get here, and so many other really fantastic iOS games have come out in the interim, that there seems to be an almost “Meh…” attitude about this game now. I am still interested, and found this review well worth the read. (Touch Arcade)

Robert Scoble has a really interesting post about, ostensibly, the difference between installing apps on a computer and an iPhone/iPad. I found it a good read, and it did make me think. Honestly, that’s what I am always looking for when I read an article, be it a blog post or a news item. Something that makes me sit back and think for a moment. Scoble did just that with his Promiscuous Adoption: A tale of two companies post. Check it out. (Scobleizer)

It’s humorous to look back on Apple rumors after a new product is actually announced. AppleTVHacks had a article that tracked all those rumors about the new AppleTV, with links provided. Most of them were wrong, which just goes to show you: don’t believe the rumors! They are link-bait, mostly made up nonsense designed to get you to visit their site. (Appletvhacks.net)

Do you remember this factoid: HP used to sell an HP branded iPod. No? They did! I had forgotten that myself, but Chris Seibold’s post at Apple Matters reminded me of it. So why did HP drop the iPod? Read his article to find out! (AppleMatters)

Wired’s Evan Hansen has an interesting take on the new Apple TV, and what it means to the cable companies. (Wired)

Interested in how the Macintosh was originally created? Andy Hertzfeld’s site Folklore does just that, but be careful, you can lose hours there. (Folklore)

I love (LOVE) my iPad, and personally, I think it’s the greatest thing Apple ever made besides the Macintosh. Yeah, I said it! That being said, I am still very interested in the other slate / pad competitors, what they can do, etc… Harry McCracken got his hands on a new one form Samsung, and it’s an interesting look. Not tech related in any way, but a site I found I could not stop reading a few years ago, is The Sneeze. The writer seems to have gone walkabout the last few months, but the archived content is worth your time. In particular, read the “Steve, don’t eat it!” entries. They will make you LOL and perhaps even OTFLMAO. Whatever that means… (TheSneeze)

It is hard to keep up with a lot of the goings-on in the tech web. We only have so much time to devote to our favorite technology hobby. As such, here we have a compilation of tech stories we found over the last few days we think you will be interested in.

If there were any of those left still holding out, Firefox parent company Mozilla has said that the PowerPC Macintosh models are not “likely” to be supported with the upcoming version of the popular web browser. (TUAW )

I do wonder how many of you are still using a PowerPC Mac. It’s one thing if you cannot afford the latest and greatest from Apple, or if you have some OS 9 applications that have never made the OS X / Intel transition, but you really should not be surprised if more and more companies drop all support for any PPC Mac.

Jay Nelson at Macsimum News has a review of InDesign CS5, calling it a major step forward. I don’t personally have much need for a page layout program any longer, but it seems odd now that, if it is page layout, Quark never seems to get a mention. What happened to Quark?

myPhotoEdit 2.0 was released! Looks like a fantastic update to an already nice piece of software. From the website: In these times everyone needs to edit an image from time to time. You have to edit it quickly for a blog entry, a presentation or your grand-ma, who learned to send emails.

From the “why not” file, iFixIt has decided to go and take apart some old tech gear. Up first on their hit list, the Magnavox Odyssey that came out in 1975. I remember a relative who had this, and I loved playing Pong against my cousin. I was only five when the Magnavox Odyssey came out, but it had a long life. Until I discovered the Atari 2600 a few years later! But in the meantime, go take a look at the first home gaming console, and marvel at just how clean it looked inside. (iFixIt)

TouchArcade has an unboxing and early first impressions on the Parrot AR.Drone. At this years Macworld Expo (or just Macworld now) I saw an early version of this quadricopter flying around the Moscone center, being controlled by an iPhone. It was amazing! I want one in the worst way, but at $299, it may be a want that goes unfulfilled. (TouchArcade)

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening has been released, a fun looking game for the Macintosh. Go take a look at Inside Mac Games for details. While my time playing Mac games has been limited for, gee, five years or so now, I still love seeing new games coming to the Mac. (Inside Mac Games)

And lastly, OWC Joe T. has a great blog post at MacSale.com titled “Spotlight on Spotlight” Well worth a read, and it’s more proof that OWC is all about giving back to the computer users in the world. In this case, knowledge!

Since the last major Apple media event at which Netflix announced that they would bring their popular streaming service to the iPhone/iPod Touch, many people have been waiting for this day. And, finally, we are here.

Netflix did not release a separate app for the iPad and iPhone, but rather a universal app that run on both devises. If you already have an iPad, and have Netflix installed, the same app will work on the iPhone. The only difference is, because of the small screen, the interface is slightly different.

The Netflix app is free with a paid monthly subscription to the service, the lowest being the $7.99 option. The free app works with your account, so that if you watch part of a movie on your computer, you can pick up right where you left off on your iPad, iPhone, or any other devise (Xbox 360, PS3, etc…) that Netflix supports.

Personally, I love the image and audio quality of the Netflix streaming service. It’s a great service for a very reasonable price. You can download the Netflix app here.

Tim talks about the new iPhone 4. Yes, he didn’t wait as he said he would. Sigh. Some feedback on changes to iTunes, Hulu coming to the iPhone, and the question is asked: time for an iTunes subscription model? The big topic besides iPhone 4 is: after twenty years, isn’t it time for printing to evolve? Why are dialog boxes in Mac OS 10.6 almost identical to those from Mac 7.1? Everything else is changing and growing, why not printing as well?
